Assalammualaikum and hye everyone ^^,

Alhamdulillah, we finally had completed the task and came out with our newborn baby: SAVE M.E We had gone through all the obstacles, the sweet and bitter experience in order to complete our video.

Actually, it was not the end of everything, for us this can be take as our first step to improve ourselves  in Technology and ICT.

Till we meet again next time, InsyaAllah =)

In the making …

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone 😀

Towards the end of our video production project, there are so many things that we need to accomplish especially we have to  give 100% commitment in our video making process. From the beginning, we already sit together and voice out of our ideas or thoughts in order to make the most interesting video ever. Truthfully, this is our first experience on how we learned and being exposed by using a few techniques to create a video based our own creativity. Since the our first meeting, every groups already decided and chose their theme for their video production. The final week of our video presentation is just around the corner, so we have to be more prepared from the physical and mental aspects. We need to spend more time to discuss even our facebook’s group is one of the medium part of our discussion.

We choose the theme of nature for our video production. Yes, it is seems quite common to hear but we trying to implement something fresh and new in our video. What a long journey we have in making such a great and awesome video ever. I mean, we already went to so many places in order to create the different environment and also to get some mood of nature or environmnet. We went to Sungai Congkak on the weekend because we want to shoot our first video in the river. Actually, this is one of the Ong Jee Teng’s ideas and we agreed with that because we think it is something
different and never did by anyone before so we decided to do it 🙂

IT’S AN INTERVIEW & A PICNIC!

Annyeonghaseyo everyone. .

Hello everyone! (^^,) How are you? Feeling good? Hope so ya…

Dr Rosseni had posted about the activities in FB group.

Here’s the post. 🙂

“I posted on our class blog before Subh today but i guess you kids (u r kids today because you did not open my blog before u go to class  did not follow me or woke up late and in a big rush to catch the bus…anyways…

Today before we start, week 6 class, En Helmi will recap what we have done in Week 4 and PnHazrati will recap what we have done in Week 5. We will have Q&A session with all instructors and facilitators before starting getting into Week 6 material. That shall end by 10.30am at the most.

Then for week 6, in reference to videos on graphic and video presentation during the first and second week, we will together design and create a presentation from the whole class to integrate graphic and video into a presentation. What do you say if we have a picnic under “pohon Tiin” at the backyard of my office. I’ll go get some soft drink (since kopi tak luak last 2 weeks) and nasi lemak now …hehe there’s ikan bilis sebalik nasi lemak tau, you need to integrate a class video and graphic presentation this time in your reflection for week 6. A good one this time we work as a team, the whole class.

Each person shall say 1-3 sentence only. Muhammad Faisal Kamarul Zaman had borrowed quite a good video cam (in case En Yusuf will not be with us today) for this purpose but i need our expert En Helmi to conduct this session. From now till we meet pls think of what is most pertinent that you gained from learning in a hybrid environment (FB-blog-F2F-field work-outdoor-computer lab-college room etc.) and recap what you said about how this method helped you improve your communication and presentation skill and most of all did it help you gained confidence to talk in good English? 3 sentences only okay … bolehlah kalau nak 5 pun … Farah Yusoff jangan pulak berebut mike dgn Imran Yazid nanti untuk Farah dan Imran kita boleh bagi 7 sentence

i have to go get nasi lemak so you guys will be motivated to produce a good video clip for the class. That is not a bribe is it?

C u kids later then…pls start doing activity 1 and 2 till 10.30am and proceed to meet me at my office backyard if I am not in class by 10.30am. We’ll probably meet at the hallway infront of Bilik Rehat Pensyarah first.”

We were so happy for Educational Technology class for this week because finally Ummi can spend time together after she’s  been so busy lately.

For the first direct and simple class:

i) with Mdm Hazrati

She recaped on what we have done in previous class…that was Quick & Simple-ASSURE Model… She was trying to emphasizing that this model will be one of our favourite final exam questions soon.

Thanks to both Mdm Haz & Dr Rosseni for this. At least we can get a clue on how will the exam looks like soon. Thank you…

ii) with Mr. Helmi

He recaped on what we have done in week 4. Then he checked on our scripting for storyboard of SAVE M.E..

By the way…we had some discussions on what to add and to remove after consultation from Mr Helmi.

After that, we moved to the back of Dr Rosseni’s office. We had our picnic there- under the Tinn’s trees with Nasi Lemak, orange juice special from Arab and Secret Recipe’s cheese cake (brought by Kak Anna).

IT’S THE INTERVIEW TIME!

We did our recording on Hybrid Learning environment. Each person in a group had been asked for their opinion for about 3 sentences. Dr. Rosseni wanted us to experience on how to produce and present a video like How to love Muhammad (one of videos that she showed during our first week class).

We were interviewed by Ummi and other facilitators about the current issues (basically related to this course and academic matters).

Watch the following videos (Erna Lina, Ummi Amira, Ahmad Khusyairie and Winnie. Sadly, Ong Jee Teng was unable to join us that day):

After we finished the recording session, it is time for to makaaannn…

yeayyy!!! Thank you!! Thank you!!

Picnic Time!

After video shooting…

Thank you to Ummi, Kak Ana and other facilitators for the food.

We enjoyed coffee, mango juice, nasi lemak with ikan bilis and also cheese cake.. yummmyyy.. !

Special thanks to Cikgu Ummi, Mdm Haz, Kak Anna, Mr Helmi and other facilitators. 🙂

Thank you!

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN MODEL

Hello, hello, hello! E-Tech in the house! 🙂

For week 5, we had our technology in education with Mdm Hazrati and Mr. Helmi.

Dr. Rosseni was unable to be with us because she had to give talk on Multimedia e-Content, as what she informed us in our FB group. Even she was unable to be with us, but still…..she’s monitoring us.

Okie… Move on to our main topic for this week.

Lesson 1:

This lesson was conducted by Mdm Hazrati.

What is Instructional Design (ID) Model?

Well, it is the process or a procedure by which instruction is improved through the analysis of learning needs and systematic development of learning materials. Technology and multimedia always be the tools used by the instructional designers for the purpose of enhancing instruction. Plus, it facilitates the transfer of knowledge, skills and attitude to learners.

ASSURE Model

ASSURE Model is one of the ID model.

As we can see from the chart above, The ASSURE model consists of 6 components.

The 6 components are :

i)                  Analyze learners,

ii)                State objectives,

iii)               Select media and materials,

iv)               Utilize media and materials,

v)                Require learners’ participation,

vi)               Evaluate and revise.

Do you know that?

ID-Instructional Design is the best way on presenting learning materials.

As a future teacher, we should learn this ID so that we can apply it in the future, especially to improve our teaching skills and give extra way for students to learn better if they do not get the lessons in the class.

Another suggested models:

1) ADDIE model

2) Dick & Carey model

3) Smith & Ragon model

Lesson 2:

This lesson was conducted by Mr Helmi.

Three Composition of Video Shot

i) Close-up shot (CU)

Focus was put more towards the subject not the background.

ii) Middle-Shot (MS)

Apply the same focus on the subject or the background.

iii) Wide Shot/Long Shot (WS)

Background was the domain of the shot. This technique can be applied when we want to shot the overall background where the scene happened.

Now, Let’s Discover about The Angle of Video Shot! J

i)             Normal Angle

The camera is positioned at approximately the subject’s eye level. The normal angle refers to the subject’s position, not the position most comfortable for you while taking picture. If we were shooting a group of children then a normal “adult” angle would be too high. In a case like this we should lower the camera.

ii)            High Angle

In a high angle shot, we placed the camera above the eye level, with the camera shooting down on the subject. A high camera angle is useful for showing the audience an overview of our scene or shooting area. A high camera angle tends to make the subject appear smaller in size and stature. Looking down on a subject usually suggests a feeling of loneliness and a lack of power.

iii)           Low Angle

In a low angle shot the camera is positioned below the eye level, with the camera shooting up at the subject. If we are shooting up from a low angle, we can make the subject appear larger and suggests a feeling of power and dominance.

iv)           Zoom

A single shot which moves towards a particular subject. We use zoom-in to show focus to one object, while zoom-out to show the overall scene. However, be careful with the zoom because sometimes it makes our shot unrealistic and we need to be careful while handling it.

v)            Pan

The horizontal movement of a camera from left to right or vice versa where the camera base or the cameraman is static. The common term that we use is pan-left and pan-right. Usually we use pan to capture the fast movement of an object. The next one is tilt.

vi)           Tilt

Almost the same as pan but the direction is different, which is vertical. In other words, tilt is a camera movement in which the base remains stationary but the head of the camera moves up and down. The term that we used is tilt-up and tilt-down.

vii)          Dolly

A realistic movement where the whole camera is moves approaching or away from the camera towards the object using wheeled tripod. Dolly is platform on wheels, which a camera can be placed in order to allow more freedom of movement during filming. It is not restricted to a simple rectilinear movement. In other word, it is used to follow action.  The term that we use is dolly-in and dolly-out. Last but not least is truck.

viii)        Truck

Shot has the same movement as dolly but the direction of the camera is different, that is from left to right or another way around. The term is truck-left or truck-right. Truck shot is totally different from pan shot because in truck shot, the camera was moved and at the same time, angle of the video shot change.

What is Quick Response (QR)?

QR is short for Quick Response (they can be read quickly by a cell phone). They are used to take a piece of information from a transitory media and put it in to your cell phone. You may soon see QR Codes in a magazine advert, on a billboard, a web page or even on someone’s t-shirt. Once it is in your cell phone, it may give you details about that business (allowing users to search for nearby locations), or details about the person wearing the t-shirt, show you a URL which you can click to see a trailer for a movie, or it may give you a coupon which you can use in a local outlet.

The reason why they are more useful than a standard barcode is that they can store (and digitally present) much more data, including url links, geo coordinates, and text. The other key feature of QR Codes is that instead of requiring a chunky hand-held scanner to scan them, many modern cell phones can scan them.

There are some videos on how you can use QR codes to benefit search marketing.

We are very sure that, by using technology and ICT the process of learning would become more interactive and effective.

Have a nice day!  🙂

IT’S PRE-PRODUCTION PHASE OF VIDEO-MAKING!

Our class started at 1000. Mr Helmi and his friends were there in guiding us in pre-production phase of video-making.

Firstly, Mr Helmi gave a clear briefing on video production module. This module will help us in designing and developing our own video to be integrated as teaching tools. Plus, we would be exposed to video technology as well as mobile and web 3.0 technologies.

Mr Helmi explained on User Innovation Management (UIM) tool – a tool that will assist us in scripting and story-boarding.

The UIM tool

Basically, UIM tool consists of 6 steps:

 Step 1

Select the message we want to convey.

Step 2

Plan do we need to have actors in the video and where will we shoot the video.

Step 3

Insight from what sources we are going to have ideas to shoot the video and emotions the audience will get from watching our  video.

Step 4

Vision, where we will plan how long each scenes would took and how we will attracts the audience attention.

Step 5

Sketch/prototype, we will create the plots and record it using mobile phone.

Step 6

Present the video to class.

Then, we were asked to create our storyboard on our chosen topic and our chosen topic was NATURE.

The purpose of creating this storyboard is to show our scenes or plot and to guide us in producing our video so that we are in the right track in conveying messages to people.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Our prototype or storyboard was on Nature. We would like to bring awareness towards nature among people.

Later, we were asked to present our storyboard in front of the class.

It’s Presentation time!

As a conclusion, it is very important of learning UIM tool. It helps us to be creative in delivering our messages as well as to guide us in video-producing.

Till then!

Welcome Back to Technology in Education

Hello everyone! Welcome back…! 🙂

Facebook helps us to communicate with others…

Our second week class started a little bit late because Dr Rosseni had something else that was more important to do. She posted in the facebook group but none of us were able to get the information. So, we missed our breakfast time. Huhuhu…

Mr Helmi helped us to put our wordpress link into Dr Rosseni’s wordpress blog for monitoring and evaluation purpose for every week.

We were all with empty stomach. 😦

Luckily, Dr Rosseni went back to her house and grabbed some cookies for us since we missed the information in the facebook.

* TQ Dr. Rosseni for the cookies! 😉 We really enjoyed them!

Yummy yummy! Delicious!

During class, there were 4 different videos with different ways of delivering messages showed by Dr. Rosseni.  These videos gave us an understanding on what is video production is about.

The videos become interesting with the applied background music, various shot from different angles, the messages and many more.

We are very sure that there are many things that need to be explored soon.

We hope that we can deal with technology better at the end of this semester so that we can upgrade our skills, especially in our future teaching. (^^,)

TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

Hello and a very good day to all. 🙂

Welcome to our blog. By the way, this is our group blog, E-Tech Production for Technology in Education class.

Our Technology in Educational is on Fridays, 1000-1200 at Lab 1.

Well, E-Tech Production consists of 5 persons… We are Erna Lina, Ummi Amira, Ahmad Khusyairie, Ong Jee Teng and Winnie.

Erna, Ummi, Ayie, Jee Teng and Winnie…

Hello Dr Rosseni! We meet again yaaa! 🙂

This time, Dr Rosseni is assisted by Mdm Hazrati, Kak Ana and Mr Helmi and the gang (as what Dr Rosseni said in the class…hehe) in guiding us along this semester.

After the ice breaking and explanation on the course outline, Dr Rosseni showed us a few good videos since we are going to make our own video soon.

sources: http://rosseni.wordpress.com/page/2/

What is our comment about the videos?

Hurm…well, the videos were cool! The videos gave us early idea on what topic will be chosen for our video production soon.

We are pretty sure that this course is going to be an interesting course since we are going to involve ourselves in dealing with technology. We are going to learn on how to create and produce our own videos, websites and creative powerpoint presentation.

By having this knowledge, we can be an excellent teacher by attracting students’ attention in order to ensure that the teaching and learning session will become more enjoyable and fun.

Have a nice day!

(^_^)
